Foot and Ankle Pain.

Foot and ankle pain: Treatment in South West London.

Helping you get back on your feet and stay there

When your foot or ankle hurts, it affects everything. Every step becomes something you’re aware of, exercise gets put on hold, and even standing for long periods starts to feel like hard work. It’s one of those areas where pain has a disproportionate effect on daily life.

We regularly assess and treat conditions including:

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Ankle Sprain
  • Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction
  • Peroneal Tendinopathy
  • Heel Pain in the Morning

We’ll spend your first session mapping how load is moving through your whole lower limb, not just the painful spot, so your plan addresses the actual cause.
Book your appointment online and start putting weight through your foot with confidence again.

Understanding foot and ankle pain.

The foot and ankle absorb forces and drive efficient movement, so when something isn’t working well, the effects tend to spread upward through the knee, hip, and lower back.

Different pain patterns often point towards different causes:

  • Heel pain is often plantar fasciitis
  • Pain at the back of the ankle is commonly Achilles tendinopathy
  • Pain on the inside of the ankle often points to posterior tibial tendon dysfunction
  • Pain on the outside of the ankle often points to peroneal tendinopathy
  • Pain following a twisting injury is likely an ankle sprain

Many patients notice symptoms at specific moments. Those first steps out of bed, walking after a period of rest, or a discomfort that builds the further they run.

Common contributing factors include:

  • Sudden increases in training or activity
  • Weakness through the lower limb
  • Poor or unsupportive footwear
  • Repetitive impact on hard surfaces
  • Previous injury

The foot and ankle rarely work in isolation. Knee and hip mechanics play an important role, which is why we assess the whole lower limb rather than the painful area alone.

How we help.

Understand how load is moving through your foot and ankle

We assess foot and ankle movement, strength and walking mechanics alongside the knee and hip, identifying how load is being transferred through the lower limb and where things may be breaking down.
You’ll leave your first visit understanding what’s driving your symptoms and what we’re doing about it.

Treat the specific structures involved

Treatment is tailored to you, drawing on a range of techniques selected specifically for your assessment findings, whether that’s reducing irritation in plantar fasciitis, supporting tendon recovery in Achilles tendinopathy, or restoring stability following an ankle sprain.
We’re working towards a foot and ankle that can handle distance and impact, not just stand comfortably.

Rebuild strength, balance and confidence

Balance, strength and movement control are rebuilt step by step through the foot, ankle and lower limb, so confidence returns alongside capacity rather than lagging behind it. This is especially important if you’ve experienced recurring heel pain when walking or repeated ankle injuries.

When should you seek help?

It’s worth getting this checked if:

  • Heel pain is worse first thing in the morning
  • Walking or running has become painful
  • The ankle feels unstable or keeps giving way
  • Symptoms aren’t improving on their own
  • Episodes keep returning

If you’ve experienced a significant twist or trauma to the ankle, are unable to bear weight, or have noticed significant swelling or bruising, please seek urgent medical assessment.
